The East Grand Forks Open Juvenile Synchronized Skating Team, in partnership with the Northern Lights Figure Skating Club, is an advanced competitive program for experienced skaters committed to continued technical development and high-level team competition. Skaters refine synchronized skating skills while advancing their individual U.S. Figure Skating testing through regular practices, regional competitions, and exhibition performances.

Team size ranges from 8–20 skaters.

Team requirements represent the minimum eligibility standards. Skaters are expected to continue improving their individual skating skills and testing throughout their time on the team.

Team placement is determined by the synchronized skating coaches and Skating Director. Skaters who do not meet all requirements may be considered individually, while placement decisions are made in the best interest of each team and the overall program.



Competitive team members are expected to participate in fundraising opportunities that support the Northern Lights Figure Skating Club and its synchronized skating programs.

Open Juvenile Synchro will begin October 12th at the Blue Line Club Arena until construction is completed at the VFW Memorial Arena.

Wednesday: 6:00–8:00 AM (as needed)

Thursday: 4:45-6:15 PM

All competitive synchronized skating participants must be registered with both the Northern Lights Figure Skating Club (NLFSC) and U.S. Figure Skating (USFS). Registration for both memberships can be completed through the NLFSC membership website.

Please ensure that both registrations are completed before participating in synchronized skating activities to maintain eligibility and compliance with club and U.S. Figure Skating requirements.

Skaters must be 19 years of age or younger. There are no test requirements for participation.

Team placement is determined by the synchronized skating coaches based on the U.S. Figure Skating guidelines, as well as each skater's individual skills, readiness, and overall fit within the team.

Skaters are required to participate in at least one 15-minute private lesson each week and are expected to attempt at least one U.S. Figure Skating test (Skating Skills, Free Skate, or Dance) during each skating year, April 1 through March 31.

The Bronze Dance Test is strongly encouraged, along with participation in a weekly private dance lesson.



Skaters who do not meet all program requirements may be considered on a case-by-case basis at the discretion of the coaching staff.

Programs offered through the EGF Parks & Recreation Department are setup for citizens within the EGF city limits. Those wishing to participate that live within Polk County but outside of the city limits MUST complete the Non-resident Participation Form prior to registering.

Skaters should also arrive prepared for both team instruction and individual skill development through their required weekly private lesson.
