Better After the Flood
Originally developed following the 1997 Red River Flood as part of East Grand Forks' riverfront redevelopment efforts, LaFave Park transformed former residential land into one of the community's largest multi-use recreation areas. Over the years, the park has become the primary home for youth softball while also supporting Sacred Heart School athletics, football, fishing, boating, and community recreation. In 2024, the City completed a major improvement project that included a new double-width boat ramp, floating dock, ADA-accessible kayak launch, reconstructed roads, expanded parking, sidewalks, a new picnic shelter, and accessibility upgrades near the softball fields.
