Community Garden
From city plot to garden spot.
Originally created by Eagle Scout Chris Rieth in tandem with Christ the King Free Lutheran Church, the East Grand Forks Community Garden started with the intention to give residents without garden space a place to grow fresh vegetables for summer meals. Since then, the garden has grown into a place of connection where people of all ages come to enjoy fresh air, get a little exercise, and unwind after a long day. Beyond personal harvests, many gardeners generously give back—donating produce each year to the local food shelf. From colorful flowers to homegrown vegetables, the garden offers beauty, nourishment, and a sense of pride in supporting both the land and the community.
Rental Information
20' x 20' section - $50.00*
20' x 40' section - $100.00*
*Half of rental cost is reimbursed upon completion of the gardening season to all that adhered to the initial rental agreement and have their plots completely cleaned out.
Gardeners are responsible for weeding and keeping up their individual sections.
A water tank is provided at the site for gardeners to water their crops. The water usage charge is included in the plot rental.
Applying to Rent
To rent a plot for the season, call the Parks and Recreation office, stop by the office at City Hall, or submit an application to egfparks@egf.mn.
