The Snowplow Sam/Basic Skills/Freestyle program is designed to introduce individual skaters to a variety of skills. Using the U.S. Figure Skating Basic Skills Learn-to-Skate Program, our skaters learn all of the fundamentals of figure skating.
Snowplow Sam is offered for 3 - 5 year old skaters born between 9/1/2017 and 8/31/2020. All 1st year skaters that are not yet in kindergarten must begin in Snow Plow Sam.
The objectives of the program are:
- To provide a fun and safe skating experience for the beginner as well as the more advanced skater
- To teach correct technique of the basic elements of skating
- To develop a finer degree of coordination and balance
- To promote physical fitness
- To have fun!
- For Ages 3 - 5
Lesson Time: Tuesdays 5:30pm - 5:45pm
Sundays 1:30pm-1:45pm
HELMETS are REQUIRED for all Snowplow Sam skaters.

End Date Winter Session: February 13, 2024
No Lessons - 11/26, 12/3, 1/7, 1/16
There will be some "Learn to Skate Practice Ice" posted on the Arena Schedule between December14th and January 2nd.

Fee $50.00 City of EGF Residents
$90.00 Polk County but outside of EGF City Limits

Before registering with Parks and Recreation, you must register with Learn to Skate and obtain a registration number which is also insurance. You will ONLY register with Learn to Skate if you are NOT a synchro skater or compete individually at non-sanctioning events. For regular Learn to Skate lessons, you will need to register with Learn to Skate.
