Trees located in the space between public sidewalks and roads fall under the jurisdiction of the East Grand Forks Parks and Recreation department.
For berm tree services, call the Parks and Rec department at 218.773.8000 to get added to the tree maintenance list.
Trees are maintained on a limited schedule, so to ensure services for the year, requests should be made before early May.
Tree Maintenance Schedule
Late May - Prospective tree planting locations are evaluated and cleared for safety.
Early June - New trees are planted
July - Berm trees are maintained and branches are trimmed
August - Sick and dying trees are removed, stumps grinded
New Planting
Residents requesting a new tree planting may select a first and second choice for tree species, based on seasonal availability. Specific variety options may vary each year, but commonly available selections include:
- Maple
- Linden
- Elm
- Oak
- Hackberry
- Birch
If no preference is provided, the Parks & Recreation Maintenance team will select an appropriate species for planting.
