East Grand Forks is home to a well-loved parks system that offers something for everyone—from quiet riverfront trails and scenic picnic shelters to family-friendly playgrounds, sports courts, and community gathering spaces. Whether you’re planning a birthday party, hosting a picnic, enjoying a bike ride along the Greenway, or just looking for a place to relax outdoors, our parks provide clean, safe, and accessible spaces for both residents and visitors.

Park Shelter Rental Information

The listed East Grand Forks Park shelters are reserved on a first come, first served basis. Some parks have more than one shelter available.

Rental Availability

  • Daily from May 1st through September 30th
  • Parks open daily: 10 a.m. to Dusk
  • No advanced reservations made until February 1st of the current year.

Contact the Parks and Recreation Department at 218-773-8000 or visit the East Grand Forks Parks and Recreation office at City Hall, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Sherlock Park

Location: South of Highway 2 on 5th Avenue NW

An 11-acre destination nestled along the scenic Greater Grand Forks Greenway, Sherlock Park is one of East Grand Forks' most beloved outdoor spaces. Rich in community history, the park is home to the iconic Sherlock Forest Playground, a castle-themed wooden structure originally built in 2003 by local volunteers and lovingly rebuilt after a fire in 2011. With a public swimming pool, shaded picnic shelters, and direct access to the city’s paved trail system, Sherlock Park offers tons of opportunities for play, relaxation, and connection.

O' Leary Park

Location: Behind Veterans of Foreign War Arena (711 3rd Street SE)

O’Leary Park in East Grand Forks offers a mix of recreation, play, and connection to the scenic Greenway trail system. The park is home to eight dedicated outdoor pickleball courts—one of the region’s largest free public setups—as well as picnic shelters, a playground, basketball court, and seasonal restrooms. Adjacent to the VFW Memorial Arena, O’Leary Park also serves as a popular trail access point, making it a year-round destination for fitness, family outings, and community events.

Eagle Point Trail Head

Location: 223 1st Street SE

Eagle Point Trailhead & Shelter in East Grand Forks features a Greenway access point along the Red and Red Lake Rivers, complete with a medium‑sized, power-equipped shelter that seats about 48, nearby restrooms, charcoal grills, and a boat ramp across the way—ideal for family gatherings, trail users, and anglers alike. With paved bike and walking trails weaving through scenic riverbank views, it’s a peaceful year‑round retreat for hiking, biking, fishing, picnicking, and watching wildlife.

Nash Park
Location: 22nd Street NW and 10th Avenue NW

Indoor Picnic Facility/Warming House

Park features include:

  • Outdoor shelter that seats around 30 guests
  • Outdoor skating rink during winter months
  • Indoor shelter building, available to rent for a fee

Griggs Park Trail Head
